Suomen Sotilas, Soldier of Finland, an independent Finnish review was founded in 1919 and is the oldest defence magazine in the country. The main areas of interest include national and international defence policy, security questions, warfare, defence and law enforcement materiel, military technology and military skills.
The circulation figure is approximately 15.000, including every single important decision maker in the armed forces and Border Guard. The magazine is also widely observed by the opinion leaders inside the Finnish military reserve, the main body of the armed forces with half a million men.
The magazine Suomen Sotilas is published by Kustannus Oy Suomen Mies, owned by the highly influential Maanpuolustuskiltojen Liitto, National League of Defence Guilds. The magazine’s totally independent status and unlimited scope constitute the prime elements of its position as a major opinion maker in the national security establishment.
In addition, Suomen Sotilas is well known for its field tests covering a good number of military issue and outdoors equipment ranging from tanks, snow vehicles and gun sights to personal gear like clothing and hand held GPS-locators.

In addition to the magazine, a semi-annual catalog Maanpuolustuksen osto-opas, the Defence Buyer’s Guide, could be the precision instrument for all materiel and service producers.
